Knowing Jesus

Surerender
Most Important

This page is here to provide the most important information of it all…How to know Jesus, personally.

Many things can be overlooked, assumed or misunderstood, especially in these days of mis-communication and (readily available) mis-information.

Knowing Jesus is a relationship, which starts with a choice.

Through faith in Jesus Christ, accepting Him into your life through a simple but sincere prayer is all that is required.

There is no mystical procedure which causes this life-changing experience to start. It is simply asking Jesus Christ into your life and surrendering your life to Him. He wants our whole heart – nothing more and nothing less.

The Truth

Jesus said “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14; 6.

In this, we accept that He has a plan for our lives and actually knows what’s best for us.

It’s important to remember that God/Jesus is perfect and in order for Him to change us and mould us, we need to be willing to lay down all that hinders and may prevent us from entering into the life he created us for.

Jesus also stated, “…I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full”. John 10; 10

The bible is a big book with an incredible amount of information and stories about the nature of God and Jesus. But it is all about this one truth:
God reaching us, through His son, to bring us into a relationship with Him. Restoring us to harmony with Him, forever.

To accept the offer of eternal life and an eternal relationship with God, we have to accept and believe who Jesus was – and is.

This includes saying sorry for things we have done wrong; offensive things against God, against others and even ourselves. Also agreeing with Him, we want to stop doing things which are bad, or not good for us/others.
The good news is, God doesn’t expect you to be able to ‘make everything right’. All He requires is our “yes” to Him, allowing Him to do His work in us.
“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” (Phil 2; 13).

Surrender

We need to also accept that Jesus died as a perfect sacrifice (on a cross) for those things -and that ONLY through what He did on the cross can we have a relationship with God.  We were created to have this perfect connection / relationship.
This is why our hearts and souls cry out for this connection, every day, every moment.  But we have become used to using other things to try and fill that void.

We come to Christ, just as we are. We do not need to be ‘right’ or ‘fixed’ first. We just need to surrender.

When you accept Jesus into your life, you have decided to follow Him and begin to learn about his perfect ways and plan for your life – which we can learn through the bible (these days online and in printed forms) and spending time in simple prayer. But amazingly, he works in us and through us, by His Holy Spirit to change us. He wants to partner with you, at every moment.

Often meeting together with others (church) helps us discover the beauty and diverse nature of his love for us. We are not meant to stand alone, but together with others, too.

The prayer of surrender to Jesus is not complicated. But it must be sincere and honest.
After all, He knows what you need, what you think and what you believe, anyway.
He wants His very best for you. All the time.

Here is a simple example of a prayer to use, to accept Jesus into your life:

A Prayer

Lord Jesus,  Thank you for paying the price for me on the cross and forgiving me for the things I have done wrong in my life.
I accept that when you died on the cross, you paid the price to make everything right with God the father.  You are one with God and I surrender my life to you.

I give you my hopes, my fears, my future, my life.  I want to leave behind the old life of self centeredness and seperation from you. Please accept me as I open my heart to your Holy Spirit. I want to follow you and know you personally.

Only through You can I be free to be the person you have designed me to be. Come in to my heart Lord Jesus. I am sorry for things I have done wrong and ask you would come and change me from the inside. I surrender my life to you now.

I thank you with all my heart that as I truly surrender, I can know you. Thank you that I will spend eternity with you.  I accept your amazing love into my heart.

Show me what you want for my life and how to get to know you properly.

Amen.
